WHO WE ARE:
Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) is a volunteer based emergency service. Our highly skilled and equipped Volunteers are trained comprehensively in a wide range of emergency environments. To minimise the impact of emergencies when they occur and strengthen the community's capacity to recover swiftly and safely, VICSES focuses on working with communities and partners in building resilience to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities.
As the largest road rescue network in Australia we have specialist teams that provide a 24/7 response to road accident and trauma incidents. We assist Victoria Police in search and rescue operations, and play an important role in supporting the Country Fire Authority, Metropolitan Fire Brigade, Parks Victoria and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning during major emergency incidents.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Community Resilience Coordinator position will work as part of a team to support VICSES achieve its strategic direction in the delivery of consistent, high quality communication engagement and awareness programs in accordance with the VICSES Community Resilience Strategy.
The position is responsible for supporting VICSES units and volunteers to achieve more aware, informed and prepared communities; supporting them to understand their risk and the relevance of taking action before, during and after emergency events. Some out of hours work and travel will be required.
The position being offered is a VPS4.1 fixed term for up to 12 months. During this time VICSES is likely to have completed and implemented the reorganisation project, which could impact and change this position.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The position is primarily responsible for providing guidance, mentoring and support to VICSES units and volunteers in the delivery of community engagement and awareness programs and supporting activities to meet current and future needs in accordance with VICSES legislative obligations, policy, vision Regional Business Plan and relevant unit plans.
The position assists in the development of emergency plans for floods, storms, earthquakes, tsunami and landslides by incorporating mechanisms that promote community resilience. Provide proactive support for VICSES operational responsibilities, and provision of relevant guidance, mentoring and information to volunteers and staff for the communication of information and warnings.
