Job Description

What you will do as a Senior HR Consultant

Build professional client relationships to create working partnerships and sound understanding of client needs to facilitate quality human resource management practices throughout the Department, including supporting the department to continue to implement best practice and effective industrial and employee relations arrangements and practices.
Management of complex human resource matters, such as industrial and employee relations, including research, analysis of legislation, industrial instruments and policies and procedures. As well as appearing as the advocate for the department at Queensland Industrial Relations Commission proceedings, or through written submissions.
Case management of complex and sensitive conduct and performance matters, such as discipline and employee complaints, to provide sound recommendations and guidance to senior management.
Contribute to the development, presentation and facilitation of briefings and workshops for management and staff where required.
Actively lead and contribute to the development, implementation and review of human resources policy, procedures and guidelines.
Contribute to the evaluation of human resources services and initiatives to ensure these are directed to supporting the department's business outcomes.
Maintain sound knowledge of contemporary human resource management practices to ensure currency of knowledge and skills to provide appropriate outcomes or solutions for clients.
Contribute, coordinate or participate in various departmental networks, committees and working groups.
Support your team to create a high performing, flexible and supportive working environment.
Prepare reports, submissions, briefing notes and other correspondence of a substantial and complex nature in relation to a range of human resources issues. You'll be good at

A qualification in Human Resources, or a related field is highly desirable.
Experience in preparing submissions for appeals and disputes and/or advocacy in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
