Job Description

Map intricate relationships across multiple projects & synergise their development so all stakeholders are united in their efforts to save the Great Barrier Reef.

Leading the collaboration of business, science, government and philanthropy, this NFP Foundation is the lead charity for the Great Barrier Reef, committed to find funding solutions for the long-term conservation of this global icon. It’s a gigantic and multi-faceted task that involves hundreds of thousands of stakeholders from many different places and spaces – all with diverse perceptions, persuasions, opinions and interests.
In this new role, which reports to the Head of Marketing and Engagement, you’ll be the pivotal force who brings them all together. The architect who designs the engagement platform, you’ll map out who all the present stakeholders are and identify others who should be involved.
Working closely with the Marketing and Communications specialist team, you’ll decide on the best vehicles across multi-channels for the continuing nurturance of existing relationships. And as you explore the meticulous audience segmentation systems they’ve set up and the invaluable intelligence that has been revealed, you’ll also collaborate on how those groups might best be approached.
As you’re aware from previous projects and study with IAP2, the next step is to identify and empower those professionals within your talented team who – by dint of their specific skills, contacts and past work – are best equipped to manage specific relationships.
Ensuring each knows where their ‘engagement piece’ fits within the strategic plan, you’ll collaborate on a step-by-step course of action and build a toolkit to help your internal stakeholders lock each relationship into the overall engagement strategy.
Sound simple? With your expertise, it probably is. There are many, many projects on the go at any one time. And each is attached to a singular set of stakeholders with different perceptions of the Reef, its problems, imperatives and solutions.
So, key to your success in this crucial leadership role will be your proven ability to adroitly juggle the relationships across numerous simultaneous projects. You may have done this previously on behalf of a complex multinational organization, in a senior government role or as a client service specialist with a Tier One, multi-channel communications and branding consultancy.
But whatever the specifics of your professional history, it’s imperative that you are well connected and have a consummate knowledge of how to navigate the mazes surrounding major political figures. Essential too is your thorough understanding of the IAP2 Core Values for Public Participation and the Quality Assurance Standard for Community and Stakeholder Engagement.
A passion for conservation, and in particular for saving our superb Great Barrier Reef for future generations, is imperative – even if you have never worked professionally in this area of enterprise before.
