High Profile Government Department

Long Term Project
Project Management

Prepare design briefs so that Engineering personnel can be engaged to manage the design component of projects;
Manage assigned projects from inception to completion within time and budget constraints, ensuring work is completed to an acceptable standard;
Conduct a risk assessment for each project and take appropriate measures to mitigate any identified risks, include risks and scope with Project Management Plan;
Monitor progress of contractors, internal resources and or Third parties to ensure projects are completed on time and to a suitable standard;
Manage customer expectations regarding deliverables by preparing a project plan prior to each project and by providing regular feedback through meetings, etc. to assist in ensuring that these expectation are realised;
Co-ordinate Q&A and final acceptance tests prior to handing over projects to the appropriate operational group and/or client;
Prepare costing and quoting for service requests with the assistance from key Subject Matter Experts with the ability to negotiate in line with the business model.
Prepare monthly cash flow status and production management reports for current projects in order to monitor expenditure and production against scope;
Liaise with Strategic Procurement & Contracts to ensure the procurement process is adhered to.
Mentor and provide coaching for Project Officers within the project delivery team to instil fundamental project management methodologies and values
Coach/Train apprentices/interns or graduates assigned to the team and provide performance reports to the co-ordinator when required.
Customer Interface
Negotiate any variations to the project with the client to find solutions to support clients needs;
Conduct hand-over with the client/sponsor and operations at completion of the project, including post implementation review with lessons learnt documentation;
Adhere to Sydney Trains environmental policy and procedures in the carrying out of projects in order to minimise the impact of Sydney Trains business on the environment;
Incorporate the relevant components of the Safety Management System in the undertaking of each Communications project to ensure compliance with Rail Safety Act, ensuring a safe and reliable rail network.
Special Conditions/Requirements
It is a requirement of this position to have flexible working hours; some projects will require the Project Manager Condition Monitoring to be available after normal hours and on weekends.
The incumbent will possess Rail Industry Safety Induction or obtain this competency within 3 months of appointment.
This position requires a current class C drivers licence
